You Live in a Beautiful Part of the World
I have learned a strong variety of lessons from Nana (you'll hear plenty about her) and every single one I am thankful for. One being that I "live in a beautiful part of the world." Though I have heard this phrase countless times, I never tire of hearing her tone soften and her eyes sparkle as she looks toward the mountains. She provides such a strong, but tender presence connected naturally with a genuine and honest voice. Even if you lived in a dirty, unwelcome town with a barren, black landscape you would believe her because she is telling you it's beautiful. She has that way about her.
I may be biased because 1 ) I live in Tucson, Arizona, to which Nana is personally referring and 2 ) because she is my Nana, but regardless, I believe that I live in a beautiful part of the world. Tucson, Arizona; a huge, small town, a city surrounded by mountains with faded blue hues. El Centro lights up a section without diluting the stars above and cultures populate Tucson. Forests and cooler weather are just an hour away. Powerful monsoons plow through July and August. Tucson is a beautiful place. I live in a beautiful part of the world. I believe that anywhere you are, you live in a beautiful part, too. I hope you can see it, acknowledge it, cherish it, and live it. I am thankful Nana has told me this countless times, because I see it now.
