Wishful Thinking

(If I were as small as an ant)

Exploration was always a passion; it was always the dream. It felt out of reach for so long because of my size in the world. Then I suddenly recognized the humility of my size as an asset, as how it should be, as an opportunity, and decided to take advantage of it. I could go anywhere, see anything, and no one—not one thing— could stand in my way, mostly because they could hardly see me, but that’s beside the point. Though these pursuers of normalcy could not stand in my way, I guess they could easily stand on me. I could be stepped on! But that doesn’t scare me like it used to, so I’ll press on then. As the size of a fraction of a lucky penny, darkened by history on the ground, or the size of something that could use a single blade of grass as a rowboat in a rainstorm, I had the entire world at my next movement, my very next breath.

So, I guess I’ll be going then.
