Blue
Something I love to notice about moving from Tucson to east Tennessee is how different they obviously are: rugged, brown mountains, desert landscape, hot weather, dry air versus rolling, green mountains, lush landscape, cold weather, thick air. But, what I love even more is discovering details that relate the two together that make them seem not so different, not so far away. Mountains up close are distinct from one another. Each vein of a hiking trail or overgrown brush is noticeable and creates a mosaic of personality, every peak and ridge different from the next. When looked at from afar though, the differences diminish and the hazy, blue hues blend in a unique way into hazy blue skies. The jagged and dark mountains in southern Arizona blend into an interesting contrast of every shade of blue from indigo to baby. They appear rounder and softer. The rolling green hills making up the smoky mountains appear similarly, bringing the two homes together to one.
